Well I have already crashed the computer once for trying to get this up the fancy way but couldn’t figure how to get the form in a blog post or create a new page on the website for it, so here is the link to our new newsletter system
We hope to use this space to alert you to new blog posts and to new item updates, maybe even special sales and offers for our special newsletter buddies, who knows. It probably 90% of the time is going to refer you back here to the blog since we can put out a lot more info in this space, but hey an instant reminder instead of having to look us up is always helpful right?
Great thing about the mailchimp system is that they do all the things they are supposed to do, to get us the right info so we shouldn’t be as easily dumped automatically into your spam folders. And you can sign up and unsubscribe very easily! No getting added to a list and me never being able to find your request to be removed you do it all yourself!
So come join us on our new journey and get hooked up for the newsletter!!!

Instead of just posting a long list of books I have read over a year, I thought I would try maybe a monthly post or at least a post whenever I update my flash drive of the books I have listened to recently, with a few comments about them… That’s right since I can’t read print anymore anything I read is an audio book, and normally downloaded off a free program from the NLS for visually challenged/blind individuals. Absolutely love this program as it is so much better than the old tape program, which is still going, I think, but on demand downloads for multiple books is just what I need, with my wide range of interests. Only problem is this limits available titles.
We’ll start with book 16 of the year
(I’ll post the Bard Cat. File name first then a link to it on amazon. BARD is the NLS program)
DB-Mansfield_ Stephen - Holland_ David A Paul Harvey's America_ the life_ art_ and faith of a man who transformed radio and inspired a nation DB72283
This book caught my attention as I have for some unknown reason always liked Paul Harvey. I can’t really remember any of the little stories I heard from his news cast but I do recall that I had heard them as a kid, and while listening to the story about him, I realized that he is probably one of my biggest hero’s. He loved his country and his life, and wasn’t afraid of telling the hard truth. So much to admire!
I would recommend this book
DB-Verne_ Jules - Bonner_ Anthony 20_000 leagues under the sea DB57020
I’m going to guess that this was a recent newly updated file to the digital download file as it appeared on the top 20 most popular downloads, and it being such a great classic and the fact I can’t ever remember reading it I thought I would finally actually get around to it. And unlike a lot of older English books I was happy to be able to follow the story and get sucked in right away, and can see why it is considered a classic story! My main observation though as a work of fiction I noticed that it mentions the cooling off of the earth, and how funny that now today we are so concerned with global warming. Of course being written so long ago I’m sure the known science of the world has greatly altered.
Yes I would recommend this book
DB-Olstrom_ Clifford E - Perkins School for the Blind Undaunted by blindness_ concise biographies of 400 people who refused to let visual impairment defi
I’m not sure if this is the same edition as I read I think mine was first but this was the only result
This was one of those I brought along with me when I was expecting to get interrupted as you can start and stop so often since it’s not a story but just mini bios of the people. My biggest problem with this book as from its title I expect people who did amazing things in the real world and over probably 50% of the people mentioned worked with/for blind individuals in that tight knit community and not successful in the real world. Also at least 2 that I noticed killed themselves! How is this overcoming blindness? I’m curious to see what a list comprised in the future would contain as many many of the people that were not known for their work in the blind community, were hands on professionals like organ tuners, (yes this came up A LOT hahaha) We live in such a different world now than when most of the people covered did, and the more recent again were all involved in NFB or similar state agencies, not that I don’t think this work is important, I just don’t find it very uplifting that individuals such as myself can impact the actual world vs just a community of like people. And OH MY seriously I think we have done a great job at getting kids to quit poking their eyes out, or causing eye infections that later cause total blindness. This again was something that reoccurred again and again, Child gets hit in the eye, improper treatment causes totally blindness in both eyes. Today I don’t think I know anyone personally that has gone blind from this sort of accident. 90% of people I know are genetically blind.
My other complaint is that is is sorted alphabetically and think it would have a better impact if sorted by timeline instead.
No I probably would not recommend this book. It’s not a bad book, it’s just not uplifting like you would take from the title.
And folks that’s all I have today to delete off my flash drive!

Wow I think it’s been a bit too long since I have last blogged!
As you may have guessed things have been a hoppin over at www.hookedonmoez.etsy.com .
As I type this post we are sitting right at 75 more “sales” till we hit that magical 1000 sale number. It has taken us a long time to get to this point, and I’m so proud after 5 years of this journey we may actually get to join the 1000+ sales club. Okay you caught me there is no club but there is a site that tracks etsy sellers and ranks them, but the catch is you have to have 1000 sales b4 they will even consider putting you on the list! So that is my current goal to get ranked as one of the top crochet shops on Etsy.
The bummer is we have sold WAY more than 1000 items on etsy, but the additional qty added in the cart doesn’t count except for the once, unless there is different variations… And well of course the display cards are sold in sets of 25 and so on and it of course only counts that as 1 sale.
Oh well we are getting there quickly now. Back at the beginning of the year we still had well over 200 sales to go, and just last month we ended at the sales number of 888!
Thankyou all those that keep us moving along towards our goal

I love going outside only to discover a large box waiting for me on the doorstep. Today was one of those days!
More supplies today this time from my main supplier. Complete with more hairbow cards, lots and lots of them.
As well as wider headbands, FOE elastic headbands, more large clips, and my favorite from this photo the 4in satin ribbon I plan to use for blanket edging
And last but certainly not least Rhinestone sticker sheets! they are way more wonderful in person than I could imagine from the description. Be sure to look for these in future projects as well as for sale in the etsy shop!
Sorry but I am out of time so yes I know the pictures are dark and not cropped but please forgive me I just had to share!

This mainly concerns those that get some supplies from me but also will mean some new options in the shop for other items as well. I tried out a new supplier the other day and my first/bulk of my order came in today!
Now I will not be completely replacing the old supplier for most of the things I can get there as well the normal ribbon from the new site and display cards are just not as nice, but the display cards are different and the stretch ribbon is wonderful! The old one only had stretch velvet and this one had stretch grosgrain as well as satin.
Here are the pics of today’s shipment..
First up the bulk of ribbon and other supplise. The black has already ran away... Must of fallen under my desk. but all are stretch ribbons. As well as you can see the hair ties (love) and a different color of crocheted supply headband coral which the other site did not have.
Next is the display cards. A great size but all thinner than the ones I currently have/sell. First is a plastic one than a small and than what they called a tall I think, and the fold over headband cards are larger than the others I have (or will fit a wider headband)
Last is the DIY pet collar kit. I think this will be a fun new project to play with

Got the idea for this post while watching the morning news today. They had nicknamed our unexpected snow storm the “In Laws” as it came unexpected bright or rather cloudy and early Tuesday morning, and isn’t gone yet but should be gone by Friday. And all this after telling us it was going to “clip” the edge of the state for nearly a week, and yet in DMS it dumped 9 inches! Winter weather warning went from 2 counties to 2/3rd of the state at about 9 am Tuesday morning.
Now why is all this interesting? Someone had the bright idea to go on a supply run to DMS Tuesday right after dropping off our 5yo at school. Can we guess who that bright person was lol… Up till about half way there we were expecting to get maybe a dusting and CrazyZ loves driving in a bit of weather as it actually helps his ADD focus on the driving. When we had left there wasn’t even signs of the fact snow was on it’s way.
DMS is about an hour away from where we live. Thankfully though it is all highway miles so getting there was at least better than if it had been country roads. We went from no snow on the roads to at least 3 inches of slush by the time we got to DMS.
My favorite part however was our arrival at the fabric store with the field I mean parking lot of fresh deep snow, and getting 2yo out of the car to the automatic kid response of seeing snow still falling… sticking his face right into the air mouth open and tongue out telling mother nature to just dump it all right here on him
We get me 3 more cuts of nylon net in lime, taffy, and orange. then head over to the other side of the shopping area to hang out at Toys R Us until at least the streets have had a chance to have plows on them. This all worked wonderfully till we were heading to our next stop when things in DMS had calmed down, and while parking the car 5yo’s school calls to inform us of the fact he is getting out 2 hrs early… By now it is after 11 and this means he will be getting out at 1:10 and we have 2 more stops and a hours drive in good weather ahead of us lol… not quite the schools best choice since this is also the time the next wave of snow is due to hit!
Well all in all we made it back only 15 min late to pick him up and we even got to stop and eat our favorite Chinese food b4 leaving the DMS area… I’ll have to find 2yo’s fortune cookie paper as it was totally the worst one we had ever seen but it went something like…
Temptations may only happen once in a life time so make sure to go for it! LOL of course in more of badly translated English but this is what it basically said! What don’t be telling my 2 yo to do whatever he pleases if the mood hits hahahaha.
And all this trouble for getting some taffy colored net! Boy next time I have a great idea I might need to think twice.

I have read 113 books in 2012! Well that is not kid books lol. Read 89 books with the kids... Here's the full list!
I read using a digital device of downloaded books for the disabled using NLS BARD service so that is why many of the titles include DB info. as unless I forgot or have edited it down dI just copied and pasted the file name.

It’s been too long since I’ve updated so I thought I would share today’s find.
As my friends may have noticed I use a certain yarn a lot in past work I have done for them. This yarn is called “Simply Soft” it is a high quality acrylic soft yarn that I have been using for years.
While out today they had some on clearance at Hobby Lobby, so I thought I would pick up ones in the colors I didn’t recall having on hand. This will also add some new options to my yarn hair flowers and fingerless gloves as this is the same yarn I use in those.
White, bone, light country blue, country blue, I think it was light orchid, and well I have lime but it is a popular color so I picked up a spare

As I said 2 weeks ago, last week I was a little preoccupied with a show of sorts.
A great night out to help raise funds for the school attached to my church.
Turnout was smaller than expected but we still had lots of fun.
Here was our table…
Yes I think we need a bigger table too!
We also plan on doing this event next fall which will be Nov. 3. So buy a calendar now and mark it down so you don’t forget!

Short update this week!
Next Sunday is a busy day for Moe, as I not only have to be at church for early service for our choir but also will be doing my 3rd show ever, later that night, also at my church.
I’m busily trying to get some inventory for the show, but will not be able to bring anywhere near all I can do. At the moment I am focusing on getting as many scrubbers on hand as I can, and we will be making new caramel during the week.
All that said I suspect there will be no post from me next week unless I decide to do it on Monday…
If you are in my area and would like more info on the vender event at my church please check my hookedOnMOeZ Facebook page as there is a link in there to the event.
Hope everyone has a great week!
